Marcia began her career as an actress at the Royal Court Theatre in London, England.
Her first foray in to play writing was in the early 90's with the highly successful farce
WHO'S UNDER WHERE? (co-written with Douglas E Hughes) which has since
received more than one hundred productions in eight countries and five languages.
Also in partnership with Mr Hughes, she penned the popular whodunnit
A PARTY TO MURDER which premiere in 1996 and has subsequently enjoyed numerous
productions in Canada, the US and the UK and, a period-comedy entitled
TOO MANY COOKS, which premiered in 2003.
Working solo, Marcia was commissioned to write DISCOVERING ELVIS for Lunchbox Theatre
in Calgary in 1997. The play has since been produced a number of times throughout Canada
and the US. It was translated into French (A LA RECHERCHE D'ELVIS) where it has enjoyed
great success in various productions in Quebec and winning a Les Masques nomination for
best new play. Other writing credits include: THICKER THAN WATER (a CBC Radio Drama
commission, currently being re-written for hte stage as FOR THIS MOMENT ALONE)
FORGET ME NOT for Winnipeg Jewish Theatre's Ten by Ten new play festival and
PREACHING TO THE CONVERTER for ATP's Breif New Works. Most recently, with
assistance from Telefilm Canada, she has written a screenplay with Mary Colin Chisholm
entitled MIDDLETOWN, and is currently working on a new musical A SCANDAL IN BOHEMIA
with collaborators Douglas E Hughes and Jonathan Munro.
In addition to writing and acting, Marcia is also an accomplished director.
