RESUME
BIO
Andrew is a director, educator, and arts administrator known for bringing large-scale musicals to life by uniting multiple departments into cohesive, collaborative productions. His recent work includes Shrek the Musical (Storybook Theatre), Groundhog Day (YES Theatre, Canadian Premiere), and Hadestown (Mainstage Theatre Company).
As a director, his work spans professional proscenium stages (The Phantom of the Opera, Titanic), outdoor spaces (Peter & the Starcatcher), high school gyms (The Awesome 80’s Prom), intimate black boxes (Matilda), thrust stages (Grease), and online platforms (One Song Glory).
As a storyteller, Andrew champions wholehearted vulnerability, theatrical inventiveness, and a clear vision that fosters understanding and sparks empathy. He uncovers the beating heart of each work, crafting cohesive and striking visual and physical storytelling. His deliberate choices—down to the color palette—bring worlds to life, evoking powerful emotional and visceral responses. His greatest strength is nurturing performers’ confidence: when artists trust themselves and each other, that energy radiates onstage, creating work that inspires, moves, and delights audiences.
As an educator, he has taught at leading Canadian institutions, including the Stratford Festival, St. Clair College, Stagedoor Manor, The Musical Stage Company, and Young People’s Theatre. He spent 9 years as Artistic Director of Original Kids Theatre Company, directing over 25 productions and overseeing 225 more, nurturing collaboration, self-expression, and confidence in young artists.
A lifelong learner, Andrew holds a Master in Theatre Education (University of Northern Colorado), a Bachelor of Education (Western University), and is an alumnus of the University of Toronto/Sheridan College Theatre & Drama Studies program. He is dedicated to professional growth and mentoring the next generation of artists.
Andrew can do funny, sad, or serious, but above all, his work is joyful and celebrates the human spirit.
