BIO:

Bob Foster is an acclaimed Music Director, composer, arranger, and orchestrator whose contributions have shaped the landscape of Canadian musical theatre. He currently serves as the Music Director for the Canadian production of Come From Away, a role that highlights his long-standing partnership with Mirvish Productions. His other Mirvish credits include Rock of AgesThe Wizard of OzThe Boys in the PhotographDirty Dancing, and Hairspray, for which he received a Dora Award nomination for Outstanding Musical Direction.

Bob is the Head of Music at The Charlottetown Festival, where his influence is evident across numerous productions. He co-wrote and music directed Tell Tale Harbour, starring Alan Doyle, and arranged and music directed Evangeline, written by Ted Dykstra. Both these new Canadian musicals that have earned both critical and audience acclaim. His credits at the Festival also include Anne of Green GablesMillion Dollar QuartetBittergirl, and Mamma Mia!

He also works closely with Mary Francis Moore, Michael Rubinoff, and the team at Theatre Aquarius. Bob is a co-writer, arranger and orchestrator on MAGGIE, with a book by Matt Murray, and music by Johnny Reid and Matt Murray along with Bob.

Beyond the stage, Bob spent several years touring with Jann Arden, playing keyboards and guitar. He co-wrote some of her most beloved songs, including “Good Mother,” “It Looks Like Rain,” and “Give Me Back My Heart.” His songwriting earned him SOCAN Airplay Awards and contributed to multiple Platinum-certified albums, such as Living Under June and Time for Mercy.

Additional theatre highlights include Beautiful Scars (Theatre Aquarius), Passing Strange and The Wild Party (Acting Up Stage), Next to NormalEvitaCamelotLittle Shop of Horrors (MTC/Theatre Calgary), Into the Woods, and Fire (Theatre Calgary). As Music Supervisor, he brought his expertise to multiple productions of Bittergirl across Canada.
