BIO:

Kyla is a performer, associate, dance captain, and choreographer known for her clarity, rigor, and full-out storytelling through movement. A trusted leader in the room, she blends classic dance language with a contemporary sensibility to create work that is joyful, precise, and deeply human.

Offstage, Kyla is dedicated to advancing and strengthening the theatre community. She is a founding board member of the Canadian Guild of Stage Directors and Choreographers, where she co-heads the Assistant and Associate Program. She is also the co-creator, producer, and host of the successful theatre podcast Tits and Teeth, alongside her business partner, Jennifer Thiessen.

Select creative credits include Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Associate Choreographer, Stratford Festival); It’s a Good Life If You Don’t Weaken (Associate Choreographer - workshops and productions with Theatre Aquarius and Thousand Islands Playhouse); Disney’s Frozen (Associate Choreographer, Globe Theatre); Big Fish (Associate Choreographer, Theatre Sheridan); and Monster(Creator/Performer, Monster Collective).

Kyla approaches choreography as an act of collaboration and storytelling, guided by musicality and ensemble. She believes in the power of clear structure and shared purpose to unlock risk, connection, and expressive freedom, supporting artists in deepening their acting through movement.
